Veneer makes it possible to work with the most beautiful and exclusive wood available on the market, without paying top dollar for it. 

Veneer is a thin sheet of solid wood, often 0.5 mm thick, cut from a tree trunk. It is a great alternative to solid wood thanks to its more efficient and sustainable production process. Just like solid wood, veneer can be cut to have a rift-sawn appearance (flame pattern), quarter-sawn appearance (straight pattern), or something in between, depending on the cutting method.

Natural veneer is available in virtually every wood species , and modified veneer is now offered in every color and design. Modified veneer is still real wood veneer (a blend of affordable, easy-to-stain wood species) that has been artificially colored, pressed, and cut to create the most unique designs.

Logs intended for veneer production are specially selected for the finest and best quality, and rank among the top 5% of all harvested logs!

To cut the logs, they are first submerged in hot water to soften the wood fibers. 

Next, they are clamped onto the cutting machine , which either moves the log past the blade or the blade past the log. The freshly cut sheets are dried, then bundled in the same order they appeared within the original log. We call these bundles “flitches”, which typically consist of 24 or 32 consecutive sheets. You can use veneer from the same log for a uniform or repeating visual appearance if you wish.

Veneer is a widely used material by most professional furniture makers and interior builders as an alternative to solid wood. 
In addition to being far cheaper per square meter, veneer offers endless possibilities for creating the most beautiful projects.

  Wood naturally moves. With a solid wood furniture piece, you always have to account for the wood slightly shrinking and swelling throughout the year, which is caused by moisture fluctuations across the seasons. 
  What’s more, some types of wood have so much internal tension (think burl veneer) that there is little you can do with it in solid form. When glued to a sturdy backing, veneer creates a stable panel.
• Durability and Availability
  Many wood species are so rare and expensive that they are unaffordable in solid form. Using a tree trunk to produce veneer yields 40x (!) more usable surface material than sawing the trunk into solid lumber.
• Ease of Use 
  If you have ever seen a curved cabinet, you will understand how easy it is to use veneer for curved work. It is also often a simple matter of sanding and applying a new layer of veneer for repairs. 
• Appearance
  With veneer, you can create the most stunning patterns. Consecutive veneer sheets can be mirrored to craft the most incredible designs. There are countless ways to join veneer.
