Teak is a wood species with a distinct grain structure and a waxy surface. The semi-ring-porous growth zones of the wood create a prominent striped or grain pattern. Light-colored inclusions are sometimes found in the pore grooves. Occasionally, the color and grain become more vivid with dark brown to black stripes or spots. The overall character of this very beautiful, lively appearance gets a warm glow from its yellow to dark golden-brown hue.
Widely used in boatbuilding.
