It has an even, straightforward structure with a subtle grain pattern and sometimes flame figuring, which makes the wood beautiful and decorative. The colors range from pale to light reddish-brown, and sometimes it is intensely red with a light purple hue. It closely resembles rowan wood, also known as Swiss pear wood.
