Chestnut veneer is very similar to oak veneer, but its annual growth rings are slightly more clearly visible and give the wood a strong grain structure. On lengthwise cuts, there are striking patterns and streaks that give the amber-colored to dark brown wood a decorative character. The large pores form distinct vessel lines on the longitudinal surface.
